Who would notice if you were gone?.

You know the kind…those super special spots full of meaning and history. For both Lisa and I, Block Island is just such a spot. A gem of hills, dales, beaches, and some of the prettiest landscape on the planet.

Recently, we had the chance to venture out to BI for a weekend gateway. Aside from the very bumpy ferry ride there, our adventure sparkled. Dinner at Sharky’s, leisurely bike rides around the entire island, hikes through crisp fields with only birds and wind as company. Any time spent on BI is special. This trip felt especially so.

Circle Cycles – Providence, RI

Untitled, originally uploaded by aaronphaneuf.

I joined Steve Heath and a few of his MET School students on a 40 mile swing from Bristol to Providence and back.

Before the ride, we hung out with the dudes from Dynamic Bicycle in Bristol. They focus on mainly commuter bikes with emphasis on internal hubs and crank shaft drivetrains. I rode a few of their models and they felt great. Easy to ride, smooth shifting, quiet. I think for the person looking for a simple, easy to maintain bike, Dynamic is a nice fit.

We pedaled the bike at a leisurely pace, arriving in downtown Providence some hour and forty-five minutes later. Next stop – Circle A Cycle.

Circle is comprised of three dudes who build each bike by hand, customized for each client. They showed us their shop and took us through their process. This was my first time in a small, artisan bike shop. You could feel the love and devotion in the room.

Many thanks to Steve and the boys for letting me tag along. Great riding with you!

Peace.
